Science: Cooking
Last week, in science we put math and science aside for a week and took on something new, cooking! We started by deciding to split into groups and deside what to cook from there. My group, Tobin Max and I wanted to make sliders and experiment with different kinds of cheeses and meats. After making a shopping list of the suplies we needed we went to the La Jolla Market to get as much as we could. For the things that we couln’t find like meat Carwai got fo us. We decided on making pinapple terrioki sliders. Thursday was our cooking day. My group started with experimenting with the meat and how small the burgers needed to be. We made about 5 or 6 testers and even fried one in terioki sause. From there we made the meat into patties and cut up the pinapple for our pinapple terrioki sliders. In the middle of our cooking session we were at a stopping point. We could not cook the burgers or do anything else to prepare. So, we did a little math while the other groups were cooking. When it was time to cook the burgers everything just kind of went smoothly from there. We took peples orders and made the sliders how they wanted them. They actually turned out very good. Everybody thought that the pinapple was a great touch.
I really liked this week of cooking. Our dish turned out great, and we were even the only group that didn’t use a recipe! There were a few minor issues but over all it was a great experiance. I can’t wait to get farther into cooking.
