This year the 8th graders are studying individual artists. For my artist, I picked Joyce Watkins. She is a poet and watercolor artist that travels all over the world to many different beaches to paint the scenery. She is most known for painting she did of a wave called “Pipeline” which is the painting above. She also paints a lot of palm trees and oceans using pastel colors. I really like her type of art because of the vibrant and nateral colors she uses and the way she uses the watercolor to make the scene look realisic. When I was smaller, I used to really enjoy painting beach scenery like her, so I thought that she was a good choice for my last year of great artists. Here is a link to her website.
