Great Artists Reflection

This year, I think out class as a whole did a great job on our Beutiful Losers projects, write ups about the artists, and even setting up our room for the Great Artists finale. This year’s great artists experiance was a lot different from last year when we studied Robert Irwin and even from all of the other past years. This year, we had very limited time because we only had open studio to complete our projects. Also, this year we choose a group of artists and we worked on smaller projects in either small groups or indevidual groups.

One of the smaller projects that I made along with Marcello and Tobin was a canvas with yellow and green pears, each representing a different anamimite object. This project was very difficut to complete because we wanted it to look very similar to our artist’s Geoff Mcfetridge’s “apple’s” We first made a list of about 40 obkects that we could make our pears into. We then made a grid containing 40 boxes to put each pear in. After putting 40 pears in each box we scetched out what all of our pair were going to look like on the canvas. The final steps were painting the pers yellow and green backround, and any other colors that the objects in the pears needed. I think this canas turned was very unique and looked a lot like Geoff’s painting.

Aside form the canvas I made I also painted a skatkeboard with the exact text that Geoff designed for the Where the Wild Things Are movie. The board said “Inside all of us is adventure” I painted the whole skateboard black, and then added the text in wite just like Geoff’s design. I was very pleased with the way it turned out. It was very clear what the text meant and where it was from.

The night of the great artists finale went very well. I think a lot of people visited our classroom and liked our artwork. Setting up the classroom was very stressful and hectic but in the end it looked better than I thought it would. The other classrooms looked a little bit more detailed, organized and the artwork was shown perfectly. This is because the parents do all the work. I was very proud that we set up the class room all by ourselves. Honestly, I would rather have an okay room that we set up ourselves than having an amazing room that i didn’t set up.

Next year, if I had the choice to change the way NMY does great artists I wouldn’t. We have been doing the way we do great artists for years now and I wouldn’t want to change it the last year I am at TCS. This year Great Artist’s turned out very well and I would like it to be that way for next year.
